The theme of this meeting is urban outdoor recreation. After a business meeting on the morning of the 9th, we will explore the Lisburn and Belfast area by bike and foot. We’ll look at the Lagan Canal and learn about a recent study into its potential for outdoor recreation. We’ll then look at the new mountain bike trails in Belfast, before discovering the newly built trail system at the National Trust’s Divis site. Here, you have a 360 degree view of Northern Ireland. Some members may remember visiting this last site some years ago – so it will be interesting to revisit at this more developed stage.
A networking dinner will be held in the evening. On Friday morning, a mini-seminar will take place, with a speakers from Lagan Valley Regional Park, Belfast Hills Partnership and Belfast Activity Centre. The theme of urban outdoor recreation will continue… The event will close with a light lunch.
