Online Academic Research Group Meeting
Dr Elizabeth Annett from Outscape will be presenting on Wave 1 of the 2025 People in the Outdoors Monitor for Northern Ireland (POMNI). POMNI gathers evidence and trend data through an omnibus survey relating to how people in Northern Ireland engage with the natural environment, the benefits they gain from it, and the barriers they face trying to access it.
Elliot Colley is a Social Scientist with the Society and Environment Research Group at Forest Research. In this presentation, Elliot will provide an overview of Forest Research and introduce a pilot study that employed a longitudinal social research approach to investigate the unique social benefits that new woodlands offer to local communities. The presentation will highlight the development and application of a qualitative methodological framework, designed to capture individual experiences over time. Key findings from the study are available and illustrated in this interactive StoryMap: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/5c713d215e20490cbb959a1d40cb276c
