In February 2017, the Communities and |Local Government Committee published its report on Public Parks having looked at three areas:
- Why parks matter
- What challenges are facing the parks sector
- How we can secure sustainable futures for parks
The conclusion of the report was that Parks and greenspace matter and they make a vital contribution to many strategic objectives such as climate change mitigation, public health and community integration.
The committee recognised that parks are at a tipping point and that the report makes contributions and recommendations that will help ensure that parks receive the priority they deserve and to prevent a period of decline
ORN has gathered a few contributions from different organisations on how they are tackling some of these issues and engaging with the community and addressing different agendas to provide sustainable futures to our parks and greenspaces
